I wonder if Biden could still do a federal vaccine verification system, just not mandate it but give access to businesses and organizations so they can determine vaccine status rules and have a legit resource to tap into for verifying it. it also helps make it so folks aren’t uploading their vax card everytime they want to do business.
i don’t think vax up or mask up is oppressive, it’s a literal choice and it’s about public health in public spaces which is something we should quit compromising to politics.
of how they enforce it, and then capitalism can decide how well they do. you don’t get many returning customers when they risk their lives to enter your business.
and i think it’s tragic because people are getting intentionally misinformed about their own health and safety. but all we can do is give people the right choices to make as much as humanly possible, but they ultimately make their own and i have to respect that agency.
i don’t think anyone should be forcibly medicated period. but when that has public health consequences like not vaxing in a pandemic, public health measures still need to stand and wearing a mask is the most simple, effective and productive way of doing that with the least amount of actual consequence. vaccines are number one, but so is bodily agency—masks make a pretty brilliant compromise.
