Animosity and aggressive action against Native Americans started then and has never ended. They were displaced from their established homes by force. From 1830-1850, 60,000 American Indians from the "Five Civilized Tribes" were made to march west on the Trail of Tears! Just recently, we have learned more about their treatment in US government operated boarding schools. In the 1880s, 60 government operated schools enrolled 60,000 Indians. "Kill the Indian, Save the Man" was a too often shouted chant.
Enslaved Africans arrived in North America as early as the 1500s. They were first brought to the colony of Virginia 400 years ago! Enslaved Africans were in Jamestown by 1619.
Discrimination against women extends back as far as the memory goes. US women got the right to vote in 1920 with passage of the 19th amendment. That right did not include black women.
Currently, the threat by Russia to use nuclear weapons has made many Americans reticent to boldly confront Putin. We need to remember that the US was the first nation to use nuclear bombs during war. We bombed Hiroshima and Nagasaki in August 1945. Between 129,000 and 226,000 people were killed. That occurred at a time when we had already won the war against Japan. Germany had already surrendered in May 1945.
The Republicans are currently waging intense resistance to studying Critical Race Theory. Unless we acknowledge our prejudice and learn from our mistakes, they will live on forever. Let's wake up, open our eyes, our hearts and our minds. When will we ever learn?! Listen to our Democrat provocateur; and the truth will set us free.
Another example of absolutist thinking mixed with toxic masculinity and easy access to guns. We humans too easily externalize our fears and are often eagerly swept up in explanations that enforce our sense of inadequacy. So much simpler and satisfying to blame others for our frustrations and circumstances than to see the nuances and complexity of life. Many elected officials take advantage of this so are also culpable for these slaughters. While this "theory" riles up those frightened people, it seems to serve as one more tactic to fan the flames of a race war. Is that what they want? Is that what those who advocate this theory want? It certainly serves to distract those who believe the theory from how they are being exploited and how the wealthy are getting off mostly scot free from any consequences for their rapacious appetites.
Erasing 400 years of hatred and greed is not possible. Embracing eugenics and any other superiority theories will not cleanse these United States of America. What causes hatred? Why CRT? Fear plus control?
