What rooting against Ohio State this weekend taught me about negative partisanship.
I wonder where all this is going and if history tells us anything, one might predict the path we're on. Yes, we might be wired to split groups into us and them, because that was necessary for our little prehistoric band to survive. In the present, we are ever more isolated from those who are different, through where we live, who we associate with and our social media preferences. But, we also have this amazing tool between our ears, that can help us overcome these very primitive tendencies. I just don't know how we harness that potential, given the virulence of the split between us. The discontent and disaffection so many Americans feel should be addressed, especially those men who are struggling to find their way in a world where the role of men has changed substantially. It's men's violence that is making this world less safe so it would help if we could determine a path toward helping men find a more satisfying role, than storming the Capitol or mowing down school children.
The Democratic members of the House and Senate were this close to being executed on January 6, 2021. Biden's Attorney General garland has refused to do anything about it and the grassroots Democratic Party is being targeted by even our party, and murdered in mass shootings and people are supposed to fight back with what, words?
I stopped watching football when I couldn’t figure out why such ribald partisanship( for u of Mi, for huge numbers who like the football, om ly). So I feel about tribal politics with inability to converse. George Packer tried to induce people to share. NO
I totally agree that we must find common ground. How this can be done, I'm not sure, We simply must find a way soon.
I love the connection you draw in this article. I hope to share it.
