Congressman Ro Khanna on Making Tech Work for All of Us

Congressman Ro Khanna is one of the most interesting progressives in Congress right now. Trading the flash and pop of many of his progressive colleagues, Congressman Khanna has found opportunities to work with partners across the party—and across the aisle — on legislative priorities. He toured Iowa with Republican Governor Kay Reynolds to learn more about how to export his districts most important resource, tech entrepreneurship to the Heartland.

At the same time, he is a dyed in the wool progressive, a fierce advocate for Medicare for All, a Green New Deal, and taking the corporate money out of politics. Part of what allows Khanna to bridge these divides is the agility and rigor with which he thinks about the issues of the day. His convictions come out of deeply-thought policy, rather than hashtag activism.

His new book “Dignity in a the Digital Age” is a Tour de Force in Tech policy and politics, unearthing critical nuances about how to make the internet more safer and more equitable, and more importantly, how to build a tech economy in which everyone prospers. I was so excited when he agreed to join me to discuss it. I hope you enjoy our conversation as much as I did.
