Thank you for this. It really helped to put things into perspective. I wish people would stop framing the pandemic as over. It seems that the United States as a whole has gone that route. Meanwhile, Michigan is being ravaged by Covid cases, and without mask mandates, everyone is put at unnecessary risk any time they have to go anywhere. I don’t understand why the inconvenience of republicans having to wear a mask trumps the safety of other peoples’ lives. Why do the most heinous of republicans get to decide everything for everyone else? I really wish with the new variant and the increasing cases people would finally mask up, but you and I both know that won’t happen without a mandate.
This is a complete aside but: do you know why there hasn’t been a mass distribution of mobile vaccine clinics into areas that have less access to vaccines? I hadn’t realized there are so many people who would get the vaccine if they had access, but they don’t have reasonable realistic access.
I realize there’d be some logistical issues that would have to be sorted out given the special storage requirements for Pfizer and Moderna, but that certainly doesn’t seem insurmountable. If mobile clinics went to areas in need at varying times (to allow for people working any shift to be able to receive a vaccine), I really think a lot of people could be saved.
Or even a crowdfunded Mitchell bus or the like. Again in shifts to accommodate all work schedules, bus people to vaccine locations with appointments, and back home. I’d be the first to donate for that! I’m sure everyone has been wondering the same thing. I just am getting more and more perplexed by the complete and utter failure of vaccine distribution and that it continues nearly two years into the pandemic.
Thank you for this. It's good to have a doctor in the "family." I will share this piece with everyone i know. I hope you and everyone on this thread stays well.

When all the science deniers and home research wizards are gone…then will we be able to start investing in public health again?

We've handled the Pandemic really vert casually
Thanks for the clear and concise explanation. It's easy to feel overwhelmed with the mainstream media hype.
