Thank You for sharing your experiences with Covid and the importance of remaining vigilant. May God bring you Good Health. Rest, we need you.

I too am caring for a loved one who is 2.5 years old and unvaccinated. Many of us have people we love in our homes and communities who are counting on us to protect them.

Sorry you won't be able to celebrate Eid with everyone, but thank you for your article. It's a real reminder to me and my loved ones. Sad to say, we still need to be diligent, to hope for the best and be prepared for the worst.

I’m so sorry you’re ill. I hope you have a quick recovery.

I’m so grateful for this piece. I feel like I’m the last person left that sees that we’re still in a pandemic. I still have to be quarantined, and literally everyone outside of my home has completely lost patience with it. People insist that with test to treat it’s over and I can go back out into the world, despite my doctor absolutely disagreeing with that sentiment.

At risk people are more at risk now than we have been before without masks. I always wear an n95 if I have to be out (hospital, signing the house closing documents, etc), but with basically no one else wearing masks NOTHING is safe indoors. Even though I’ve now had four doses and will soon get my 5th. It’s just still not safe. It’s not just that people don’t want to die, for a lot of us Covid would absolutely wreck us by triggering our chronic illnesses. I don’t know what that would look like for me, but it’s terrifying. To the point that my doctors advise me to continue to isolate, and to continue to wear a mask even outdoors around other people.

I live in an area where they never really acknowledged Covid, ever. There’s no way I’m going to be able to send my kids to school in the fall, and that means my 13 year old living elsewhere so they can attend in person because they can NOT do another year of virtual, and my 5 year old will be missing kindergarten in person. Her first year of school, and she’ll still not have been around any other children since she was 2 (she turned 3 right before the stay at home order went into effect). But people think it’s too much to wear masks so that WE ALL can be safe and continue to live our lives.

Hopefully some really good treatments and/or preventatives come out so this can finally start to be over. I think that’s the only way because our country, and definitely out state, will not mask up to keep their neighbor from dying.

I caught omicron back in February. I recognized I might have it from symptoms I had when I had my booster in November. sore throat, achy joints extreme fatigue . Two weeks later I kept feeling exhausted and one morning walking to the bus stop in sub zero weather I hurried and when I got on the bus I could hardly breathe. A few days later Going up the stairs where I live became difficult. It ended up I had tiny blood clots in my lung. this virus has after effects . I live and work in a tourist area of the country where careless people fly in from the most highly infected areas. Please take care. RIght now I'm enjoying off season and reading "American Kleptocracy " on your recommendation. It's a brilliant piece of journalismand if people really want to investigate things that are happening here in the USA and other parts of the world , don't ignore this book.

I think your actions are representative of most people at this point. I stopped wearing my mask at the end of February and am also vaccinated as much as I can be. However, I started wearing my mask as recently as yesterday at work and out in public. It just seems the safest thing for me to do as I have health issues. Hope you’re feeling better each day and your child stays healthy.

How about US preparation for a Monkey Pox sto Are there no good Epidemiologists advising Biden ? After the horrors experienced by Jews in Europe its astounding its astounding that Isreal can do much the same to the Palistinians. Hitler demanded his Leibenstraum and the Israeli 's have their God given right to their God Promised homeland. Too bad. If we're God (whatever that is aside from a feigned justification trumped up by humans to justify their agregious self serving behaviors.

I’m so sorry this happened to you. I’ve been joking that I am constantly hearing the theme from Jaws. I just ended my semester and every one of my 18 students had COVID or a close exposure this semester even though we all were tested weekly and masked in class.

As I get ready to travel across the country, including to visit unvaxxed relatives, I’m worried despite my daughter and I being triple vaxxed (4 for me) and planning on staying masked during travel. My college students are anxious about long COVID, which none of us know enough about. And if you, my favorite epidemiologist got it, what chance do us mere mortals have?

Take care of yourself, you at least remind us we can’t let our guards down, no matter how weary we’ve become.

Sorry to hear that you were so ill, Abdul. Did you consider trying to get one of the newer drugs that are supposed to be available? It’s easy to suggest to someone else what they should do when ill, surprisingly difficult to remember those suggestions when you’re sick yourself. Physician, heal thyself!

I’m in the process of moving from one house to another, and have been distracted from some current news. But I’m aware of the terrible decision made by an unqualified Trump-appointed judge in Florida, a decision which threatens to overturn the legal basis for important aspects of public health. If the CDC cannot respond flexibly and decisively to the next pandemic, the million Americans dead from the current pandemic will seem like a relatively small number.
