The press is helping Trump to spread his undemocratic messages. I think they want to be on the side of sensationalism. We need an old fashioned newsman like Walter Cronkite.
the challenge is that the entire landscape has shifted. Rather than a few competing 1 hour evening shows, we have multiple 24-7 channels. And that doesn't even get us to the internet, and the way that it has, in effect, become every channel's assignment editor.
Straightforward and spot on. Hoping the Feds put him away for a long time. He’s a menace to society and his lame acts as our leader left our country in a bad place that isn’t going to heal in my lifetime.
"We should all agree the answer is not to defund the police,” Biden continued. “It’s to fund the police. Fund them. Fund them."
Biden, a strong supporter of the authoritarian police state that has murdered social movements starting by murdering leaders who actually cared about people unlike the current political parties. They murdered and continue to murder JFK, Malcolm X, MLK, RFK, and so many others. The only difference is which type of nazi will people be allowed to vote for.
Mauricio - while I have real trouble with the way that Biden has hook, line, and sinker placated the right on criminal legal reform questions. I do think that then equating him with a Nazi is a stretch that is extremely dangerous. First, differences in degree matter. Second, when we equate Biden with Trump, we are implicitly arguing that there's no difference between them, that a vote for either is the same kind of danger. And that's just frankly unsupported by the evidence. We can both disagree with Biden, call him out, and press him for better, and recognize that he is not Trump.
You're doing what the Republicans have done so successfully. You're only focusing on the very worst of the liberal side of the coin. If you think the kind of authoritarianism that the Republicans are touting is equivalent to a the more progressive albeit very flawed system that Biden is trying to maintain, then you're totally blind. Of course we have to do better for all the people and stop leaving out those who have been oppressed by the dominant culture, but the Republican dystopia is far worse, in that it takes us back to the 1950s for all of us, except monied white men.
